Summer concerts, and reflections

White Birch Ensemble with Alexander Tsygankov, Inna Shevchenko, & Victor Gorodinsky

With fall arriving, it seems time to reflect on some of our recent shows. In April, White Birch Ensemble was a special guest at the UW Russian Folk Orchestra spring gala concert which featured world renowned domra player Alexander Tsygankov and his incredibly talented pianist and wife Inna Shevchenko. We were so thrilled and honored not only to share a stage with them, but to have a chance to get to know them while they were here. They are truly wonderful people and it was a truly memorable concert! (View the photo gallery)

The Brink Lounge, May 2014

This summer we were busy with private parties, and projects, and concerts, but a couple were especially memorable. In May, we were back at The Brink Lounge in Madison and got a surprise visit from a couple friends from Chicago who sing with the Georgian choir Alioni! They were kind enough to be my impromptu back-up singers for “Take Me Home, Country Roads” which was a blast. (View the photo gallery)

Also in May, White Birch Ensemble was a part of the Midvale Elementary School’s International Day. It was wonderful to see kids dancing and enjoying Russian music and even try to play the instruments!  Our last performance was at Attic Angels and it was especially memorable! We definitely anticipate a return show!

Now that the summer seems to be officially over, we’re working on lining up some more performances, as well as some other special things. And of course, working on more music!

Thank you all for supporting us! Please keep in touch, and check back for news, concerts, and goodies!
